Headingley Carnegie Stadium | Emerald Stand

In what constitutes one of the largest stadium projects Airedale has completed to date, The Emerald Stand is somewhat unique in the UK as it is both the main stand for the home of Yorkshire County Cricket and Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union Clubs in Headingley.  As befits a main stand, the interior fit out caters for Directors, VIPs and Hospitality for both clubs; including Directors Suites, Private Dining, Banqueting Suites and numerous Concessions, all of which are located on wide Concourses that afford superb views of both Grounds.

In a stadium that is located no more than 10 miles from where our main office and updated manufacturing hub operate from, we are proud to have been given the opportunity to work with the appointed main contractor Carrick, contract caterers and Yorkshire County Cricket’s own operating teams to design and build a flagship project for all stakeholders.   There is a genuine “Made In Yorkshire” ethos running throughout the scheme with all the many fabrication and bespoke ventilation canopies being produced by our Airedale Manufacturing divisions, with Caddick Construction being themselves a proud family-owned Yorkshire main contractor.

We worked closely with all of these stakeholders to design and ultimately install all of the many catering facilities, including one main production kitchen, regeneration and satellite kitchens and the Bars and Concessions.   With both the current World Cup and forthcoming Ashes series both happening this summer-or the months associated with it-the installation programme was tight and rigid.   The project undoubtedly benefited from our multi-divisional expertise and Group-wide experience in delivering similar-sized projects previously.

We echo the sentiments of Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s Bar Manager by being “right chuffed” with this project and we are looking forward to working with all parties on any future plans to redevelop Headingley.
