Next wave of MasterChefs supported by Airedale
For the third consecutive year Airedale is proud to have supported the next wave of talented Chefs at one of the leading Further Education Colleges in the Country Petroc College, who hold an annual Chef Of The Year competition. Open to both current students and drawing upon Apprentices currently working across the South West, the Chef Of The Year competition continues to blossom, taking advantage of working in the top-of-the-range Training Kitchens our principle project division Airedale Catering Equipment installed in 2016. A prime example of our teams working in collaboration with one of our preferred premium commercial catering equipment supply partners MKN and the College, the main Training Kitchen still looks fresh and more than fit-for-purpose in 2019, giving the talented students a real taste of working in similar high-end kitchens in their future careers.
The Chef of The Year competition benefits enormously from the on-going support of two Michelin Starred Chefs Thomas Carr and Mark Dodson, who run the highly acclaimed The Olive Room and Mason Arms respectively. It is a real pleasure seeing these Chefs commit their own precious time to supporting Petroc’s Chef of The Year competition, not only acting on the day as the Judges but continuing to support the students throughout their courses.
The standard of the participants’ dishes, including their written submissions continues to grow every year. As Mark commented, the standard is already close to the faultless dishes both he and Thomas serve at their own establishments-very high praise indeed.
With that in mind, all participants should be very proud of their dishes. With on-going support and further training, they can all look forward to promising careers in this highly competitive market.
The Overall Winner and Level 2 Winner will now benefit from a trip arranged by MKN to London, which last year included a trip to the Houses of Commons. A Winners’ Lunch next month will allow them to showcase their obvious talents to a wider group and both will continue to receive guidance from both the Chefs.
Congratulations to the two Winners and all the participants. Airedale will continue to support the competition and we look forward to seeing all blossom further in the coming years. Future MasterChef Professional Winners? We would not bet against it.
