QEStudio-Queen Elizabeth School

QEStudio is part of the Outstanding Queen Elizabeth School set in the beautiful small town of Kirby Lonsdale.   QEStudio provides students aged between 14-18 with individual, personalised “learning packages” that combine traditional with skills-based learning, which are delivered in partnership with a number of local businesses.   Accordingly, the students benefit from the best of both worlds; having an academic-based education combined with real-world experience in their preferred careers.   One such career is Hospitality, with the nearby Lake District affording many opportunities, including at the hotels and restaurants we have designed and installed. 

Supporting the next generation of students is something Airedale has been keen advocates of for a number of years now and so it was a pleasure to be able to work over a two year period with the School to design and deliver a training kitchen that doubles up to become the Studio’s production kitchen, catering for on average 150 pupils/staff every day plus a number of functions for the main Queen Elizabeth School.

Early stage involvement with the operator-clients is always an advantage.  The clients can convey their own aspirations whilst we can impart our own considerable experience.  For example, we advised them to switch the whole layout by 90°, the result being that there is now far more space to accommodate additional students over and above the 10 dedicated work-stations.

Project delivery was made all the easier by utilising our own in-house manufacturing expertise, with all of the bespoke fabrication and canopy being designed and manufactured by our Caterform and Airedale Ventilation Services’ divisions respectively.
