General Manager-Locomotion: National Railway Museum
Locomotion: National Railway Museum in Shildon is located close to the birthplace of passenger railways and attracts over 200,000 visitors a year. In common with many public Museums in the country, Locomotion does not charge an entrance fee, emphasing the importance of its catering facilities to enhance the visitor experience and provide a much needed revenue stream for the Museum.
Utilising our expertise developed over 32 years of business, our team from our Airedale Catering Equipment division worked closely with the Museum’s catering team, general manager and Durham County Council to design and install facilities that were both in keeping with its surroundings and offered the museum an opportunity to generate more revenue. The result is a modern café that serves breakfasts through to light lunches, which remains sympathetic to the essential role the North East played in the Industrial Revolution.
