There are few things in our line of work that are more rewarding than working with a client from the onset of their project, working collaboratively to at least meeting and hopefully exceeding their initial aspirations. This was certainly the case close to London’s Waterloo train station at the Ruby Lucy Hotel. With an on-going theme of “lean luxury” permeating throughout the design and brief, the Lucy is the first for this German hotel brand, so the pressure from both within Ruby and internally here at Airedale was significant. Fortunately both Ruby and ourselves have a hugely talented team who quickly formed a lasting relationship, not shy of receiving constructive feedback nor advise from either party.
The result is a vibrant, luxurious boutique hotel full of quirky touches, including swings and a sweets machine as you enter the hotel. We also wrapped the back bar equipment in black, again in keeping with the brief. The kitchen is also lean but luxurious, designed and specified to quickly and efficiently-both in time and operational costs-deliver the hotel’s food offering, which predominantly focuses on tapas style meals, delicious homemade pizzas and similar.
