Airedale supports next wave of talented Chefs
Utilising the two training kitchens our projects division Airedale Catering Equipment designed and installed, we had the pleasure to sponsor Petroc College’s annual Chef of the Year competition. Levels 1-2 and Level 3 students from the College and local community were tested to create two dishes using locally sourced duck, with judges including leading Michelin Stared Chefs Mark Dodson and Thomas Carr. With the winners receiving a trip to London with our supply partners MKN, furnished with a set of leading chef knives supplied by ourselves, the pressure was on these talented students who had just a couple of hours to produce their meals. As head judge Mark commented: ” This is a great opportunity for the students to practise working under pressure. In this industry, every day is a competition and every customer is a judge.”
All of the participating students’ meals were impressive, with them all showcasing obvious talent and a dedication that will serve them well in their future careers. Previous winners have gone on to work at the Michelin Starred restaurants and the many leading hotels in Devon and beyond. Congratulations to all of the participants and in particular Level 2 winner Jessica an Level 3 and overall winner Emily.
