Tower Hamlets BSF

As part of the Government Building Schools for the Future programme, we have been working with PFI contractor Bouygues UK to create new kitchens and serveries for Bethnal Green Collage and St Pauls Way School in East London.

Both kitchens feature Hobart heavy-duty cooking islands and rack conveyor dishwashers supported by Rational combination ovens with walk-in coldroom suites and "mirrored" hot and cold servery counters.

The projects are valued at approximately £300K and are due for completion by June 2010.

Northampton College

Based over two sites in Northampton, Mark Tordoff and Ian Sisson have been working with SDG Construction on two major kitchen installations. The College has been successful in securing support from The Learning and Skills Council to transform the Colleges sites at a cost of over £70M.

The first installation - worth £120K will handover in June 2010 and includes Main Kitchen, Bar and Refectory. The installation at the Colleges' main campus at Booth Lane is valued at £760K and includes two training kitchens, bakery and pastry kitchens, larder, meat and fish preparation areas as well as a servery, cafeteria and bar. This is due to handover in January 2011.

Southmead Hospital

We have recently been working on a £400K contract with Carillion plc to equip a temporary building on two floors to provide patient meals and a seperate restaurant area for both staff and visitors with a cafe and "theatre" style servery.

The temporary facility will be in place for 4 years whilst part of the hospital is re-built.

The project has involved a carefully co-ordinated mixture of new and existing equipment, with the latter being moved across from the original hospital kitchens over a 5 day period to ensure continuity of service

Commercial Director appointed

Initially Rob will be conducting an in depth review of our Group activities followed by implementing changes to systems and procedures to provide a strong base platform for future developments

Rob gained both a BSc from Loughborough University and a degree in Law from Leicester University – after qualifying he spent time travelling the world, settling in Australia where he practiced law for 4 years. He returned to the UK in 2003 and has continued to develop his legal and commercial skills within industry including heading a worldwide Dot com start up; returning a loss making PLC to profit; aggressive expansion of a retail chain; Troubleshooting and commercial consultancy.

Rob’s abilities and experience will undoubtedly augment our existing strengths and the Board are confident that this appointment will be a catalyst for continued growth and future acquisitions.

It runs in the family

Our Financial Director, Ian Rowbotham has recently completed the Great North Run dressed as a Spartan (well why wouldn't you?)- knocking 5 minutes off his time for the previous year and beating his son, running as Wolverine, by 2 minutes!

What's more Ian was running in support of Epilepsy Research UK and has raised valuable funds for their work
